The Village is seeking an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the role of Zoning Administrator in the Development and Planning Services Department. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development and Planning Services, the Zoning Administrator oversees the property maintenance and zoning code enforcement for all properties within Northbrook, while working collaboratively with staff on processing violations through the local adjudication system. This position serves as staff liaison to the Zoning Board of Appeals as well as managing the administrative variation process internally. Additionally, this position works collaboratively with other staff in reviewing various permit types and interpreting the Zoning Code and ordinances.
A bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration or a field related to code enforcement and four years of progressive experience in the field of planning and/or code enforcement or similar experience required. Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid Illinois Driver’s License by time of appointment.
The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $99,000 DOQ. The Village offers a generous benefit package that includes paid time off, insurance and IMRF pension.
