Student Planning Organization (SPO)
The SPO's mission is to provide a vehicle for communication between staff, faculty and students in the University of Illinois Department of Urban and Regional Planning program, provide forums for workshops and discussions, and organize social events for the department. SPO is a student run organization that focuses on student needs. Additionally, they maintain a permanent voting seat on the APA-IL Board of Directors.
The UPPSA provides all UIC Bachelor's of Arts in Urban and Public Affairs and Master's of Urban Planning and Policy students with the opportunity to expand upon their coursework, through the creation of extracurricular social, academic, and professional activities and events. In addition, the organization is a vehicle for student input into the administration of the Program, through student representation in faculty meetings and on various Program committees. The organization also selects the MUPP representative for the Student Representatives Council of the American Planning Association.
