APA's 2024 AICP Diversity Scholarships Now Available

AICP Certification Diversity Scholarship program

The American Planning Association's (APA) AICP Certification Diversity scholarship help make the planning profession more diverse and accessible. Diversity is an inclusive concept which encompasses, but not is not limited to race, ethnicity, class, gender, age, sexuality, ability, educational attainment, spiritual beliefs, creed, culture, tribal affiliation, nationality, financial status, immigration status, political beliefs, and veteran status.


If you are interested in applying for the APA's scholarship, self-identify with one or more of the categories above, and have a financial need, please apply.


APA will begin accepting scholarship applications on January 8, 2024 and continue until February 29, 2024 or until all 50 scholarships are administered (on a first-come, first-served basis).


Additional Details:

  • Fifty scholarships will be awarded through a lottery system. Applicants can receive the scholarship for the exam or the assessment (not both).

  • Scholarship cannot be transferred to a future cycle, but recipients can re-apply.

  • Members who do not receive a scholarship an apply again in any future window.

  • All APA members (both domestic and international) can apply for the scholarship.

  • Test results will be shared with APA State Chapter Professional Development Officers.



Please note: this scholarship is administered through the national American Planning Association. The Illinois Chapter (APA-IL) is not responsible for reviewing applications or recommending recipients.
