2007 was a very successful program year for the APA-CMS chapter. We offered a variety of programs on topics such as urban sprawl, zoning, design and development review, conservation easements, disaster planning, 2016 Olympic preparation, and demographics to hundreds of planners who attended over the course of the year. We also offered many opportunities for socializing and networking in a variety of settings, including a ride on the Chicago Architectural Boat Tour and entertainment at the Millenium Park Grill! Many thanks to the 2007 program committee, session organizers, speakers, and all of the program attendees.

In an effort to make 2008 equally successful, a new program committee convened in October 2007 to plan the upcoming year’s APA-CMS events. Program Committee members included: Vijay Gadde (CMS Vice President), Julie Summers (CMS Secretary), Heather Tabbert (CMS Treasurer), Aaron Cook, Jonathon Grosshans, Lori Heringa, John Hedrick, Marc Hejna, Jeanne Lindwall, John Paige, Lindy Wordlaw, Todd Vanadilok, Ed Rutledge, Mahender Vasandani, Michael Quinlan, Jeromie Winsor, Valerie Werner, Liz Schuh, Beth Sholtis, and Ty Warner.

The program committee picked meeting topics, selected meeting dates/venues, and chose organizers for each program. Thanks to the hard work of the program committee, APA-CMS is pleased to announce the 2008 Calendar of Events as follows:
  • 1/30/08: Planner’s Tool Box: Market Assessment Methods (CMAP)
  • 2/12/08: Design Matters: Going for the Look Your Community Wants (Lincolnwood)
