Planning Assistant (Part-time), Village of Round Lake, IL

The Village of Round Lake, Illinois (population 18,289) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Planning Assistant with the Community Development Department.


General Duties: This new position is a multi-faceted position that will provide complex administrative and technical support in the Community Development Department. Key responsibilities include assisting with the implementation of the Village's economic development efforts, including preparation of marketing materials, outreach to businesses, assistance with TIF district projects, preparation of grant applications, and related special projects. The position will also assist in the preparation, amendment, and implementation of various ordinances, attend and participate in public meetings/hearings, and will assist with routine administrative tasks. This position will be required to attend Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals meetings.


Position Qualifications: Qualified candidates will be working towards a degree in urban planning, public administration, landscape architecture or closely related field. One to three years of previous experience in a building department and/or local government experience is preferred. AICP or CEcd certification and bilingual is highly desirable.


Starting Salary & Benefits: The starting wage is $22.90 +/- DOQ and includes participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension plan.


Hours Per Week: This position will work on average 20 hours per week. Applicants should be somewhat flexible as work days/hours may vary depending on staff schedule.
