VOTING IS STILL OPEN!  MODERNIZE OUR BYLAWS!

Dear APA-IL Chicago Metro Section Members,

The polls are still open for a standalone CMS ballot! To make these updates official, we need participation from at least 20% of registered CMS members and a simple majority of “Yes” votes. We know we can get there with your help (if you voted on the bylaws only during the National election, please vote again)!

These Proposed Bylaws updates (review the Redlined Version here) have been a true labor of love, thoughtfully designed to:

  • Bring us fully into the 21st century by formalizing modern communication practices, including email voting and virtual meetings;
  • Reflect reality by aligning official officer titles and responsibilities with how our Section has operated over the past decade; and
  • Keep us connected by bringing CMS into closer harmony with the Illinois Chapter and peer APA sections.

Voting takes less than a minute, but your input makes a huge difference. Please take a moment to review the updates and cast your ballot today:

Thank you for taking a moment to help shape the future of our Section!  If you've already voted on this ballot, kudos to you!

Warmest regards,

CMS Executive Committee

Metra

Our Metra Crawl is just around the corner...come check out density planning on the ground

The Chicago Metro Section is excited to bring back the Metra Crawl!

Two years ago, CMS hosted this event in Arlington Heights and Park Ridge to see how they responded to pandemic shifts (e.g. changes in commuting patterns and outdoor dining).

Building on our planning webinar with the Chaddick Institute this past June, CMS invites you to explore two new downtown destinations and learn about effective TOD planning for density, streetscape design, and related downtown planning efforts. Keep an eye out for more information on this event, which is expected to take place in late October or early November.

It will be a fun time to explore suburban downtowns with your fellow planners!  Open to all, members and non-members.
