Welcome, Emily Egan, AICP! 2026-2027 APA-IL President
Hi friends,
I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of President this year and am incredibly thankful for our Past President, Stephanie Brown, AICP and the many others who have previously held this position.
This year, I hope to grow our membership by providing excellent (and fun!) events that deliver the information you need to - create great communities for all.
APA-IL has had a tremendous impact on my personal and professional life. I’ve volunteered in many different ways, from a participating in a Planners Legislative Day of Action (PLAD), attending conferences, chairing the Membership Committee, and most recently, the Secretary. I volunteer with APA-IL because I’m inspired by the people involved, their shared commitment to doing good, exchanging knowledge, learning from one another, and getting the work done together.
Looking ahead, as a Michigander, I’m especially excited that the national conference will be held in Detroit this year. Registration is open and hotel block links are live. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Illinois Planners Reception in Detroit on Monday, May 27th, location TBD.
I also want to extend a tremendous thank-you to the APA-IL Executive Board, Committee and Program Chairs, and all of the volunteers who make this chapter what it is. If you’ve ever been curious about our events, committees, or conferences, now is the perfect time to get involved. Email me to join us in giving back to the profession and the communities we love.
All the best,
Emily
