Urban Planner, City of Peoria, IL

Will perform a variety of planning-related activities including; serving as liaison to various commissions, reviewing site plans, administering and enforcing the zoning, subdivision, and historic preservation regulations, meeting with citizens, working with GIS system and other duties as assigned. Will primarily be involved in the administration and enforcement of the City of Peoria Unified Development Code.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Urban Planning, or a related field; and, one to two years of progressively responsible related experience required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, considered.

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ESTABLISH RESIDENCY WITHIN PEORIA CITY LIMITS WITHIN ONE YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT. HOWEVER, IF YOU CHOOSE TO WAIVE THAT REQUIREMENT, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN A TWENTY (20) MILE RADIUS OF CITY HALL AND GIVE UP 2% OF YOUR BASE PAY FOR FIVE (5) YEARS.
