The Village of Glen Ellyn is hiring a full-time Assistant Director of Community Development.
Job duties include managing large-scale and long-range planning projects, providing support to Village Boards and Commissions, implementing Village plans and studies, and overseeing the Department.
Strong communication, management skills, and innovative problem-solving are required.
The successful candidate will build effective relationships with community leaders, elected officials, employees, and stakeholders.
Capable of evaluating and managing commercial, residential, and mixed-use development proposals.
Position oversees the Planning Division, Building Permit Division, and Development Engineer.
Reports directly to the Community Development Director, serving as Acting Director when necessary.

Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban planning, landscape architecture, or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred. AICP certification preferred.
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive planning experience, including 3 years of administrative and supervisory responsibility, preferably in a government setting.
Strong understanding of local and regional economic data, administration, planning principles, government regulations, and public engagement.
Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and geographic information systems (GIS) software highly desirable.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Salary/Benefits:
Full-time, exempt position with salary range of $89,880 - $136,619 annually.
Anticipated starting salary: +/- $115,000/year with full benefits.
Actual starting salary negotiable based on qualifications, experience, and achievements.
