Updated: Dec 12, 2020
In light of rapidly evolving events surrounding the coronavirus public health emergency and in consideration of the safety of our attendees, we are cancelling #PLAD20. The General Assembly has suspended the current legislative session until March 24th. Once the General Assembly is back in session, the Legislative Committee will continue to monitor legislation affected local zoning and planning powers and issuing Legislative E-Blast Alerts.
How Can I Help?
We encourage you to keep track of and alert us to planning and zoning related legislation. Once the Legislative Committee hears about pending legislation, they can analyze and rally support or opposition as appropriate. It's simple:Using a keyword like “zoning”, search the Illinois General Assembly’s legislative tracking system or another platform like Legiscan. Email David Silverman, AICP, Legislative Committee Chair the Bill Number (example: HB1234), Short Description, and link to the bill's webpage. Thank you for your support!
If you have any questions about the APA-IL Planners Legislative Action Day or the APA-IL Legislative Committee, please contact Chair, David Silverman, AICP at email@example.com.
All Illinois planners are welcome to join the Legislative Committee for a day of legislative advocacy and learning, including a reception at the day's end -- a great chance to rub elbows with colleagues and those in Springfield! New this year, earn 6.5 CM Credits, 1.5 LAW Credits.

What is a PLAD event?
This is a terrific FREE opportunity to participate in our democracy at a meaningful level, by making our voices heard in Springfield, and establishing relationships with our legislators, while networking with fellow Illinois planning professionals.
APA-IL’s PLAD events are designed for both first-time and previous participants. Students are welcome to attend.
