Mobile Workshops

APAIL19 offers 10 different mobile workshops! Here's a taste of what to expect. Be sure to check out the complete list.

Thursday, 9/26

Transforming Highland Park's Central Neighborhoods. Six years ago, Highland Park’s new Downtown Master Plan called for increasing the density of the CBD and surrounding neighborhoods. This led to up-zoning, increased flexibility around mixed-use projects, culminating in nearly 20 infill redevelopment projects and tens of millions of dollars in new real estate in the last 5 years. Take a trip to downtown Highland Park and see how the City is working to connect neighborhoods with new ped/bike improvements, placemaking, and streetscapes, plus new affordable housing units that were funded without public financing.

Thursday, 9/26

Planning for Hospitality: Challenges of Transition and Socio-cultural Acceptance. This unique mobile workshop will highlight the importance of planning for better hospitality and for the transition of Middle Eastern youth immigrants coming to the United States. Learn about the planning approaches needed for better inclusion, involvement, and support of the immigrant community in the Devon Avenue neighborhoods (Ridge, Edgewater, and Roger's Park).

Already registered? Email Keith Johnston, I3 Events at kjohnston@i3events.com to add mobile workshops to your registration!
