6/17 - AARP Future of Housing Livestream

Updated: Jan 1, 2020

In September 2018, APA announced a joint-research partnership with AARP as part of APA's Planning Home initiative. The ongoing collaboration seeks to address multi-generational housing needs in relation to the nationwide housing affordability and availability crisis, with focused research on the adoption, implementation, and best practices of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) across the United States.

ADUs are a growing trend that seeks to alleviate the affordable housing crisis by providing a smaller, independent residential dwelling unit within the same lot as a single-family home. While ADUs provide flexible living options for all ages, they have become a particularly viable option for senior citizens and their caregivers.

The AARP Public Policy Institute will be hosting a special Future of Housing livestream event on Monday, June 17, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. CST.

Learn about the latest ADU design options, gain insights from national housing experts, and hear success stories from AARP members and guests who are utilizing ADUs to their full potential. As part of this event, AARP will also release a new design catalog to educate homeowners, designers, and other interested parties on how to incorporate ADUs into their own homes.

This event is free for all APA-IL members!
