May 7, 2019: Planning for Refine the Drive

The Chicago Department of Transportation has embarked on a years-long planning effort to rebuild Lake Shore Drive from the Chicago River north to Hollywood. Attendees will learn of the City's philosophies and strategies for engaging public input for this estimated $5 billion project. Their planning considerations and constraints are manifold from engineering, environmental protection, parkland access, lakefront improvements, safety improvements for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, and transit improvements, to name just a few. The moderator, Mark N. Lundgren, AICP, is a member of the citizen Task Force for "Refine the Drive." More information coming soon!

May 15, 2019: New Ideas in Suburban Transit- Save the Date!

Join APA-CMS in Hoffman Estates to learn about the region's first-ever highway-based bus rapid transit station and the Illinois Tollway’s SmartRoad active traffic management system. Learn about the project from the planning and transportation professionals who implemented this multi-jurisdictional effort. This program begins at Hoffman Estates’s Village Hall and ends with a tour of the new Barrington Road Station. Presenters include: Rocco Zucchero, Chief Planning Officer, Illinois Tollway; Michael Hankey, Director of Transportation & Engineering, Village of Hoffman Estates; Charlotte O’Donnell Obodinski, AICP, Supervisor Rapid Transit Program, Pace Suburban Bus; and Kevin Kramer, Director of Economic Development, Village of Hoffman Estates.
