7/17 - Consolidation of Rural Public Transportation Services

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Strategies such as consolidation and cooperation can help public transportation providers integrate services to increase efficiency, reduce operating expenses, improve the customer experience or achieve other goals.

This FREE July 17 webinar (to be held at 2 p.m. ET) will share the results of research into the consolidation of rural public transportation services. Conducted through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, Consolidation of Rural Public Transportation Services provides guidance to transportation providers and state departments of transportation (DOTs) considering or engaged in consolidation efforts. An accompanying guidebook provides a road map to transit regionalization in rural areas.

The webinar, hosted by the National Transit Institute, will highlight four case studies that identify catalysts for consolidation, steps in the consolidation process, potential benefits, and possible challenges that rural public transportation providers may encounter as they work to regionalize or consolidate their services. The webinar will provide advice to state DOTs and providers from those involved in the case study consolidations.

FTA sponsors the National Transit Institute to provide training, education, and clearinghouse services in support of public transportation and quality of life in the United States.

Presenter: Patti Monahan, Monahan Mobility Consulting LLC.
