4/11 Work Smart Workshop - Sponsored by the APA-IL Diversity Committee

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Women face a significant wage gap in the workplace – on average, women are paid just 80% of what men are paid. Women in Planning and Development (WP+D) in partnership with the American Association of University Women is offering Work Smart, a salary negotiation workshop designed to help women claim their full worth as a planning professional.

The APA-IL Diversity Committee is pleased to sponsor this workshop.

APA-IL members receive discounted registration, use code KFH915XV.

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available with preference given to students. Contact the Diversity Committee Chair, Marcella Bondie Keenan at diversity@ilapa.org to request a scholarship.

Workshop Details: In this two-hour workshop you'll gain confidence in your negotiation style through facilitated discussion and role-play and learn:

  1. How to identify and articulate your personal value

  2. How to develop an arsenal of persuasive responses and other negotiation strategies, including how to get a raise or promotion

  3. How to conduct objective market research to benchmark a target salary and benefits

  4. About the wage gap, including its long-term consequences
