Back by Popular Demand: Speed Planning!

Our annual speed planning session will be held Thursday September 14th from 1:30 to 2:30 at Hotel Indigo (2nd floor). This session offers a taste of planning at its best, from recent award winners and other agencies, through a fast-paced, interactive session. How does it work? One project, topic, and/or speaker will present at one table for the entire session. Here’s where the real fun begins: every 15-20 minutes, attendees will be instructed to move to another table to listen to a different presentation. Every 15-20 minutes a new group of people will be sitting at each table for the award winner or agency to do their presentation again. Think musical chairs, APA-IL style!

Plan Commissioner Training

New and seasoned plan commissioners are invited to an all-day training session on September 14th. We'll provide a chance for plan commissioners to step back, learn what’s new in planning, and discuss their role with fellow commissioners.

All planning officials, boards, and commissions are welcome. Professional planners are welcome to attend both the morning and afternoon sessions. Planners will likely find the afternoon session, which includes a mock hearing and best practices for public hearings, the most useful.
