APA-CMS goes behind the scenes during the June Millennium Park Panel and Walking Tour

More than 50 people attended the Millennium Park Panel and Walking Tour on June 29th. The event, which was hosted in partnership between APA-CMS and the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architecture (IL-ASLA), featured a behind-the-scenes look at the Midwest’s biggest tourist attraction, Millennium Park. Attendees heard from four of the individuals who were key to the park’s design and development including Ed Uhlir, FAIA; Terry Guen, FASLA, Terry Guen Design Associates; Christy Webber, Christy Webber Landscapes; and Benet Haller, Chicago Department of Planning and Development.

After an hour-long panel discussion and presentation, participants were treated to a guided tour of the park by Millennium Park Master Landscape Architect, Terry Guen.

We’d also like to thank our event sponsors, Hoffie Nursery, Inc., The Midwest Companies, Kaneville Tree Farms, Inc., and Hydrotech, who provided a great reception for those who waited out the 15-minute rain shower and stuck around for networking after the tour!

IL-ASLA has been a great partner for the APA-CMS. The joint events we have held with IL-ASLA in recent years have helped illuminate the connections between our professions. We look forward to hosting another great event with IL-ASLA in 2018.
