Plan Commission Training Workshop in Itasca

On April 12th, APA-IL's Planning Officials Development Officer, Michael Blue, FAICP of Teska Associates and APA-IL Training Faculty Member, David Silverman, AICP of Ancel Glink et. al., held a Plan Commission Training Workshop at the Village of Itasca. The training was attended by members of Itasca's Plan Commission, Community Development staff, the Village Attorney, and the Deputy Village Clerk. Michael and David jointly presented the regular curriculum plus a few legal topics requested by the Village. On their evaluation forms, attendees noted that the most helpful topics covered were the responsibilities of the Plan Commission, the commissioners, and the chair. One attendee wished the workshop had been a bit longer! A sports side note: the workshop originally had been scheduled for last November, but was then rescheduled due to a conflict with Game Seven of the World Series. The April workshop fell on the same night that the Cubs received their Championship rings. Coincidence? We think not!

The APA-IL Planning Officials Development Committee creates training opportunities and brings them to planning officials around the Illinois. The APA-IL has teamed up with the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development at DePaul University to provide trained faculty that lead planning officials through an in-depth curriculum. If you're interested in scheduling a training session for your officials, contact APA-IL Planning Officials Development Committee Chair, Michael Blue, FAICP or Laurie Marston, FAICP or visit the Committee's website for more information on training opportunities.
