2016 APA-IL Elections: Notice to Membership

Are you interested in running for a position on the APA IL Chapter Board? How about a position on either the Illinois State Section or Chicago Metro Section boards? 2016 is an election year. According to the bylaws, Chapter members are to elect a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer for the APA-IL Chapter as well as positions for the two Chapter Sections (Chicago Metro Section and Illinois State Section). Terms run for two years and the next term of office will commence on January 1, 2017. To learn more about the officer positions of the APA-IL and the positions for each of the two Sections, you can visit our board web page. If you are interested, you can submit your name for consideration to be placed on the ballot. Or, you can ensure your name will appear on the ballot by submitting your name along with a signed petition by 20 regular Chapter members in good standing. A Nominating Committee will decide on a slate of candidates and will release the slate to the membership in July. APA National will run the election which will occur in August. The deadline to submit your name for consideration, or your name with the signed petition, is Monday, May 16, 2016 at 5:00pm. Please send it via email to Rob Kowalski at rob.kowalski@ci.champaign.il.us and indicate the position you are interested in running for. Please use the same email if you have any questions about the process. If you have been considering getting more involved with the Illinois Chapter of the APA but not as an Officer on the Board, there are several different committees you can consider joining. There are committees for Public Relations, Pro Bono, Legislative, Diversity, Professional Development and more. Consider getting involved. It’s a great way to make professional contacts and give back to the profession locally! Send your inquiry to the Chapter Administer, John Paige, at admin@ilapa.org or speak to a Board member at the 2016 State Conference this Fall in Chicago. Rob Kowalski, AICP APA-IL Immediate Past President
