At long last: Chicago's 606 Opens THIS Saturday

The American Planning Association – Illinois Chapter (APA-IL) is excited to sponsor and showcase one of Chicago’s most celebrated open space projects. Ten years in the making, The 606 is the first converted elevated train track into a trail and park system in Chicago. The 2.7-mile Bloomingdale Trail is considered the centerpiece; when fully built out, the trail will be connected to six neighborhood parks at ground level, a wheel-friendly event plaza, an observatory, art installations, educational programming and other amenities. The 606 will officially open on Saturday, June 6th and runs along Bloomingdale Avenue (1800N) on Chicago’s northwest side. This is a partnership between the City of Chicago, The Chicago Park District and not-for-profit The Trust for Public Land.

APA-IL sees The 606 as one of the top planning projects within Illinois in 2015 that advances urban planning. As the authority on urban planning, APA-IL is proud to sponsor the opening of The 606.
