About The Event
Join fellow Illinois planners, Illinois state representatives and senators for this 4th annual day of legislative engagement and advocacy. Help build the American Planning Association - Illinois Chapter's profile in Springfield as the most important voice on legislative matters affecting the planning profession and its practice in Illinois.
The APA-IL Legislative Committee is organizing a full-day of activities. Our agenda:
- 9a-11a - Breakfast / Importance of Legislative Advocacy Discussion with Tim Mapes, Chief of Staff for the Speaker / Capitol Orientation / Legislative Priorities. Held at the Abraham Lincoln DoubleTree Hotel (701 E. Adams Street, Springfield).
- 11a-11:15a - Walk to Capitol and Group Picture
- 11:15a-3:45p - Planners Legislative Action Day at Capitol / Observe Senate and House Floor / Sessions / Attend Committee Meetings / Meet with Legislators
- 4p-5:30p - End of the Day Reception at Arlington’s (210 Broadway, Springfield)
#PLAD18 is a terrific opportunity to participate in our democracy at a meaningful level, by making our voices heard in Springfield, and establishing relationships with our legislators, while networking with fellow Illinois planning professionals.
APA-IL’s PLAD events are designed for both first-time and previous participants. Students are welcome to attend. There is no cost to attend.
