Join fellow Illinois planners, Illinois state representatives and senators for this 4th annual day of legislative engagement and advocacy. Help build the American Planning Association - Illinois Chapter's profile in Springfield as the most important voice on legislative matters affecting the planning profession and its practice in Illinois.

The APA-IL Legislative Committee is organizing a full-day of activities. Our agenda:

  • 9a-11a - Breakfast / Importance of Legislative Advocacy Discussion with Tim Mapes, Chief of Staff for the Speaker / Capitol Orientation / Legislative Priorities. Held at the Abraham Lincoln DoubleTree Hotel (701 E. Adams Street, Springfield).
  • 11a-11:15a - Walk to Capitol and Group Picture

  • 4p-5:30p - End of the Day Reception at Arlington’s (210 Broadway, Springfield)

#PLAD18 is a terrific opportunity to participate in our democracy at a meaningful level, by making our voices heard in Springfield, and establishing relationships with our legislators, while networking with fellow Illinois planning professionals.

APA-IL’s PLAD events are designed for both first-time and previous participants. Students are welcome to attend. There is no cost to attend.

If you are not sure who your legislators are, please visit the State Board of Elections before registering.
