The CMS Metra Crawl is back Nov 5!

The Chicago Metro Section is excited to bring back the Metra Crawl! This year, the Crawl will take place on Thursday, November 5th, stopping in Des Plaines and Mount Prospect on the UP-NW line.

Building on our planning webinar with the Chaddick Institute this past June, the Crawl will be an opportunity to explore two downtowns and learn about effective TOD planning, streetscape design, and related downtown planning efforts. 

It will be a fun time to explore suburban downtowns with your fellow planners!  Open to all, members and non-members.

Itinerary:

 The Metra Crawl will begin at Ogilvie Transportation Center and follow the below schedule:

  • Leave Ogilvie at 2:35 p.m. on Train 631
  • Arrive in Des Plaines at 3:09 p.m.
  • Leave Des Plaines at 3:50 p.m. on Train 633
  • Arrive in Mount Prospect at 3:57 p.m.
A social event will take place in Mount Prospect after their tour (more information to come). Come join us for a fun afternoon of staff-led tours of two downtown and "crawl" away with ideas and inspiration for your own community. 
 
Can't join us for the full event? Feel free to join us at either Metra stop or for the social afterwards, around 5:00pm!
 

Details:

  • When: 2:30-6:00 pm, July 29, 2026, social around 5:00pm
  • Where: Ogilvie Transportation Center, 500 W. Madison Street, Chicago, IL
  • Hosted by  APA-IL Chicago Metro Section, with the City of Des Plaines and the Village of Mount Prospect
  • Arrive: By 2:20 pm, so we can gather our group before the train leaves at 2:35pm in front of the track entrances, up the escalator from the south entrance. 
  • Cost: $20 (non-members), $15 (members), $5 (students). Open to all.

Deadline to register: Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST
