Different speakers, same vibes!
The APA-IL Emerging Professional Planners has put together a panel of urban planners to discuss information and opportunities to those seeking a career in planning.
We will explore and showcase the diverse nature of planning jobs and the jobs that planners hold, share the importance of planning by exploring the wide variety of sectors and skills necessary.

PANELISTS:
Sarahi Barcenas is an Assistant Planner for the Village of Carol Stream, where she assists with municipal planning and zoning review. Through this role, she has gained hands-on experience applying local regulations to real-world projects. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Earth, Society, and Environmental Sustainability and a minor in Urban Studies and Planning. She will be starting the Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning and Policy program at the University of Illinois Chicago this fall. Previously, Sarahi interned as a GIS Intern with the City of Naperville and as an Engineering Intern for the Village of Huntley. These roles helped her build cross-departmental experience in local government. She is also a member of the Illinois Local Government Hispanic Network (ILGHN), where she participates in efforts to connect professionals with communities and advance programs that address issues affecting Hispanic and Latino populations.
Nicole Campbell, AICP is a Planner II at Houseal Lavigne Associates. She has five years of experience in both the public and private sector. With a rare passion for zoning, she helps communities modernize their zoning, sign, and subdivision regulations while protecting existing community character.
