11/2/24 APA-CMS x ILASLA Event at Big Marsh. Fun for the whole family!

Huge thanks to the Chicago Metro Section's event sponsor, HNTB, for feeding us and lending their expertise to the day's presentations! On November 2, 2024, a capacity crowd gathered at the Ford Calumet Environmental Center, including many family members.

Sydney VanKuren from Greenprint Partners discussed the development and implementation of equitable climate resilience programs utilizing natural processes. Jim Patchett, a sustainable land and planning consultant, talked about restoring historical ecosystem functions in built and natural environments. And Joel Baldin from Hitchcock Design Group led us on an *extended* walking tour of Big Marsh Park, discussing how they overcame the unique challenges of the site and what the future holds for Big Marsh and the surrounding area.

Thanks also to Susan Ragaishis from ILASLA for helping the kids design (frankly amazing!) miniature rock gardens and native plant boutonnières.

This Saturday event was fun for the whole family.
