2025 Ride Illinois Summit Drives Progress in Safe, Active Transportation in Illinois
The 2025 Ride Illinois Bike Walk Summit was well attended by leaders in active transportation from around Illinois. “It was great to have advocates and planners thinking critically together to improve infrastructure and safety for biking and walking around the state,” said Kaci Crowley, Board Member for Ride Illinois.
Despite logistical challenges finding a venue after damage was reported at the summit’s original conference venue, attendance exceeded expectations on May 7-8 at the Bank of Springfield Center. The two-day summit opening plenary included a presentation by Victoria Barrett, Safe Systems Program Lead at CMAP.
Day two of the summit included legislative action committee meetings, advocacy training, and a full day of technical training led by Calvin Graham of TYLin and Tim Gustafson, AICP from HNTB on best practices for implementing walking and bicycling projects and preview of the City of Chicago’s latest design guidance publications.
Hats off to Dave Simmons for another great conference!
