Project Manager, Metro Strategies, Inc., Downers Grove and Chicago, IL

Metro Strategies, Inc., a policy, planning and public affairs firm, is hiring a Project Manager for a variety of client projects, which may include planning, research, policy and stakeholder coordination services for major infrastructure projects. This person must have superior writing and communication skills and be adept at managing multiple projects. Experience working with the public sector on policy, transportation and community issues is preferred. This position will be expected to work out of Metro Strategies’ Downers Grove and Chicago offices. Project Managers must also have the ability to travel to client locations throughout the Chicago region and collar counties.

 

The Project Manager is expected to exemplify the firm’s core values of leadership, problem-solving, accountability, professionalism, and continued personal and professional growth.

 

Key Duties

  • Manage research, policy, planning and programming initiatives for clients.

  • Research, analyze and assess technical information and project-related issues to develop clear and cohesive deliverables including fact sheets, presentations, talking points, facilitator guides, meeting summaries, technical memos and reports.

  • Create and manage project implementation timelines.

  • Conduct research and write technical reports.

  • Direct project associates on project deliverables, such as meeting minutes, project reports, meeting logistics.

  • Collect and analyze data and translate into appropriate communications for target audiences.

  • Review, research and summarize best practices.

  • Assist with funding research and grant writing for client projects.

  • Coordinate closely with project teams and clients on a regular basis, including establishing and adhering to project timelines.

  • Assist with project outreach and stakeholder coordination.

  • Facilitate team meetings, roundtables and focus groups.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with teaming partner firms, client staff, external stakeholders and the public.

  • Bring new and innovative ideas to the project team for project implementation and external relations efforts. 

  • Ensure a QA/QC process is being implemented on every project.

  • Monitor project budgets and schedules ensuring projects stay on track.

  • Handle all other project management duties that arise.

 

Required Skills

  • Good working knowledge of local and regional issues, stakeholders, elected officials and related agencies.

  • Superior research, analysis, writing and communication skills and ability to translate project technical terminology into clear, concise communications that is easily understandable to the public.

  • Proven QA/QC and editing skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and professionalism are necessary since this position works with staff, clients and the general public.

  • Must be able to successfully manage a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Ability to be flexible, well-organized and resourceful since projects can be fast-paced and deadline driven.

  • Comfortable overseeing and delegating tasks to project associates.

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in planning, political science, public policy or the equivalent related fields. A master’s degree is preferred.

 

Salary Range

$55,00-$65,000
