We are delighted to introduce you to Teska Associates, Inc. and Houseal Lavigne Associates, LLC. Talk about early birds catching worms! These two firms not only stepped up to the plate but hit a grandslam by grabbing our two Tier 1 sponsorship opportunities faster than you can say “American Planning Association - Illinois Chapter.”

It’s not too late to grab a Tier 2 or Tier 3 spot, and learn more about the many options for super-sizing your sponsorship with our add-ons (head shot station anyone?). Contact Brandon Nolin, AICP or Stephanie Brown, AICP.

Seeking Volunteers!

Volunteering at the conference is a great option for students, interns, retirees, or those in transition that would like to attend but need to watch their nickels and dimes. Volunteer a ½ day and receive complimentary registration for that day! Interested? Fill out our volunteer form and our Volunteer Coordinator, Glen Cole, will be in touch.

Program Highlights

Moms everywhere are asking, "If your friends all went to the same session on Wednesday, would you?"

There are hard choices ahead given that we're offering 4 concurrent sessions all day Wednesday for a total of 16 sessions that day. What will your Wednesday picks be?

The municipal planner says… if you’re tired of running the infill development gauntlet, check out Dealing with Density: Facilitating the Community Conversation More Effectively Workshop and learn the pros, cons, and trade-offs of managing the community conversation.

Valley girls everywhere say… um, yea, like, it’s time to Re-Think the Mall! Hear planners, retail and housing specialists debate the shifting demographics, infill strategies, sustainable approaches and economic drivers of development trends that will determine suburban development 2.0.

Those with a short attention span say… Look! Passion! Carp! Storytelling! Pro Bono! Improv! Reflections! Sounds like Fast Funny Passionate is back.

Dave says… open the pod bay doors, HAL, and explore a variety of 3D applications, including Esri’s new ArcGIS Urban during Planning with Modern GIS. Build your 3D skills in data analysis, development review, zoning and growth capacity analysis, land use planning, and community engagement.

And here's a sneak peek for Thursday….

Plan Commissioners across Illinois say… let’s take a step back from all the plan review and share stories with our fellow commissioners. Learn what’s new in the world of planning officials in Plan Commissioner Training.

Be sure to visit the APAIL19 Program to learn about the rest of our sessions, mobile workshops, social events, and more!

During this workshop, visit Northtown Library and Apartments and Independence Library and Apartments and hear from representatives Evergreen, John Ronan Architects, Perkins + Will, and the Chicago Housing Authority!

Friday, 9/27

Found Space: Fountain Square Plaza. As reported in the Chicago Tribune, "We have a beautiful, beautiful center of downtown Evanston,” [Mayor] Hagerty said. Come see this new fountain (and feel free to dip your toes in just like the kiddos here). Learn how this place was conceived, funded, designed, implemented, and programmed from speakers that played a role in making the Fountain Square a reality.
