PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL BE RESCHEDULED. WATCH ilapa.org FOR MORE INFORMATION

------------------------

Connecting Cook County, Cook County, Illinois’ Long Range Transportation Plan, as a call to action — a framework to promote the strategic partnerships and investments that strengthen the economy and lead to more livable communities. Connecting Cook County, the first plan of its kind for the County in 70 years, facilitates economic development, prioritizes alternative transportation modes, and promotes equal access to opportunities. Cook County is the center of the nation’s transportation infrastructure. With two major airports, ten interstate expressways, and the largest freight hub in the nation, its transportation system is one of the region’s most important assets — key not only to its economic prosperity, but to the well-being of its residents. Cook County has more than half of the metropolitan region’s population, jobs, and businesses and is uniquely vested in the health and sustainability of the transportation system.

Learning objectives include:

:: Focus on transportation as an investment in economic health

:: Ability to prioritize transit and other transportation alternatives

:: Significance of supporting national freight role in transportation investments decisions

:: Utilization of transportation to promote equal access to opportunities
