Summer Clerk (Internship), Village of Northbrook, IL

The Village of Northbrook is hiring a Summer Clerk in the Development and Planning Services department. The position will provide administrative and clerical assistance along with communicating information to the general public regarding department requirements and processes.

 

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing information and assistance to property owners, contractors, and developers regarding the permit and inspection process and assisting customers and Department staff by answering questions, screening, referring calls, scheduling building inspections and taking messages or logging request for action within the Village’s ERP system.

  • Providing general departmental clerical support including receiving, processing, and distributing plans and applications to appropriate departments, maintaining departmental files, and maintaining department office supplies. 

  • Assisting the Assistant Director with maintaining permit databases for reporting to Cook County and other required agencies.

  • This position requires a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or any combination of experience and education that is equivalent to completion of four years of high school with courses in general business operations and word processing. Candidates currently enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate program majoring in Urban Planning, Geographer, Economic Development, Public Administration, Building Construction or related fields are preferred.

 

The hourly rate for this position is $17.00. The Village is seeking a seasonal commitment (start and end dates flexible).
