Serve as project manager of special programs that focus on sustainability related projects, policies and initiatives as well as involvement with other impactful work. Becoming a Senior Planner would allow you to be involved with Planning and Zoning within local government, ranging from research and analysis on special topics and developing plans, reports, and policy recommendations to assisting in departmental efforts to further sustainability goals, objectives, and policies of the Lake County Board. Your day will consist of assisting in agenda development and presentation of complex reports and recommendations to Lake County Public Works, the Planning & Transportation Committee, the Lake County Energy and Environment Committee, and other community partners and performing advanced professional work related to a variety of planning assignments. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County, which consists of more than 30 departments and divisions. Being able to build working relationships with employees and the public is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning. In order to be successful in this role you should have a Master's degree in Planning, or a related field and a minimum 2 years of professional planning experience. AICP Certification is a preferred qualification. Individuals should have the ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with County staff, public officials, community leaders, other agencies, possess the ability to effectively problem solve, and have the ability to work both individually and in a team atmosphere.
