This is a responsible professional planning position that provides primary support for the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS). It involves processing applications, preparing written and verbal reports, assisting the public, and maintaining records pertaining to the City’s Zoning, Subdivision and Sign Ordinances. Limited fieldwork will be required in the case of data collection/verification.
Reviews submittals for compliance with Zoning, Subdivision and Sign Ordinances, City plans and policies.
Explains, interprets, and provides guidance regarding City codes, plans and policies.
Prepares Plan Commission staff reports, memos and backup information.
Researches and reports information for the department.
Collects and manipulates GIS data, designs and updates various databases.
Integrates existing digital data with digital information from external sources into City’s GIS database.
Assists in collecting data; development of infrastructure and utilities databases.
Prepares maps, data, community profile and other information to support Departments.
Interprets detailed requests, designs and produces maps and information utilizing GIS for City’s governing bodies.
Assists in maintenance of the Community Development Department pages on website.
Acts as staff liaison to the Environmental Advisory Commission.
Attends various meetings as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or closely related field. Additional requirements listed in the attached posting.
Occasional evening and weekend meetings may be required.
