The Village of Lake in the Hills’ Community Development department welcomes applications for a part-time Economic Development Coordinator. This position will be responsible for a variety of activities which support the pursuit of retail and commercial entities appropriate for the Village; including implementation of strategies to attract businesses, development of marketing materials, proposing incentives, business relationship development, and economic data analysis. This year-round, part time-position averages up to 20 hours per week, and reports into the Community and Economic Development Director.
A person who has a solid history of fostering relationships with local business leaders, commercial brokers, and potential prospects. A successful candidate will excel in the analysis of data and financial impact; and understand how to utilize information to make well-informed recommendations. This position requires excellent communication and marketing skills with the ability to present ideas and proposals to the general public, Village board, and leadership team. This person will seek to understand the community as well as surrounding areas in order to identify retail and commercial entities appropriate for the Village.
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Geography or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of economic development or municipal government experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. A Master’s Degree and CEcD, EDFP or AICP certification is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.
