CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE

What is Certification Maintenance (CM)?

AICP's Certification Maintenance (CM) program helps planners gain the knowledge and skills they need to remain current in the practice of planning.

All professional planners who are members of APA's professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), must engage in four (4) mandatory continuing education to maintain their certification. AICP members must earn a total of 32 CM credits within their two-year reporting period. As of January 2022, this includes 1 credit for law, 1 credit for ethics, 1 credit for equity, and 1 credit for sustainability.
