After the Awards Program, mingle with award winners and exhibitors at the meet and greet immediately following the awards. This reception joins you and other attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors.

APA-IL's Thursday Night Event

Albert Einstein didn’t say “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results,” but somebody on the internet said he did. On that note, APA-IL is, for the third year in a row, allowing Glen Cole & Phil Green to host the Thursday night social!
Catch up with your fellow conference attendees over nibbles, funnies, and trivia. The evening’s adventures will see teams trying their best to stay in the loop on a nominally fun trivia-based scavenger hunt of the immediate area. There’ll be statues, libraries, citizenship tests and crypto! Who will win? Will all of the teams make it back? Will your hosts do better than they did in Normal and actually have finished writing the questions before the game begins this year?
Don’t feel like wandering the streets in search of QR codes and nearly finding triumph? Never fear, try staying at the bar with your best planning buds and have a grand ol’ time anyway. Cheer the winners, heckle the losers, ask Paula Freeze why she keeps inviting Phil & Glen back. All are welcome.

Come join this first-of-its-kind collaboration between the APA Women & Planning Division (WPD), Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS), and Women in Planning and Development (WP+D). Meet and engage with women coming together to advance the profession and build valuable connections. This is a great chance to learn more about these organizations and opportunities for future involvement. The event is open to all, including professionals and especially students. Pizza, light appetizers, and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

Network and engage with students and alumni to learn more about ongoing projects and research in Chicago and at CUPPA. All are welcome to close out the 2022 APA IL State Conference with a happy hour in Logan Square, hosted by the Center for New Urbanism Illinois (CNU Illinois). Those who attend the 2:00 PM CNU MOBILE WORKSHOP: TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT’S BLIND SPOT: DECONVERSIONS,
DEMOLITIONS IN TRANSIT RICH NEIGHBORHOODS will receive a free drink ticket!
The Happy Hour location is at the end of the mobile workshop, making it convenient for mobile workshop participants to join CNU’s festivities.
