HOW THE CHAPTER SERVES THE STATE OF ILLINOIS

(see map at right)

The Illinois Chapter is divided into two sections: the Chicago Metro Section and the Illinois State Section.

Each section elects its own leadership and coordinates its own programs and activities with direction from the Chapter Board.

The Illinois State Section is further subdivided into six regions, each with a designated regional coordinator.

There are two student sections that the APA-IL supports, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Student Planning Organization (SPO) and the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Urban Planning and Public Policy, Urban Planning and Policy Student Association (UPPSA).

The St. Louis Metro Section of Missouri Chapter covers an 8-county region which includes parts of Illinois. Joining the St. Louis Metro Section is completely voluntary, welcoming members from Illinois & Missouri.  Members do not need to be part of the Missouri or Illinois Chapters and dues are separate from those collected through APA National.

The Illinois Chapter strives to enhance your planning skills and knowledge through a number of activities and benefits including an annual statewide conference, section meetings, planning awards, professional development assistance, a newsletter, this website, and more.

If you live or work in the state of Illinois, your membership in the American Planning Association (APA) automatically signs you up with the Illinois Chapter. APA members in Illinois support their local Chapter through payment of minimal annual dues. For information on becoming a member of the APA, visit their website at http://www.planning.org/joinapa/
