2020 AWARDS PROGRAM

Important Dates:

  • Awards Nominations due Friday, June 26, 2020 at 5:00 pm via our online form. If you have issues submitting your documentation, contact webmaster@ilapa.org before the submission deadline. 

  • Project Award Nomination Fees must be submitted no later than July 3, 2020 at 5:00 pm.

  • Supporting materials will be accepted up to 24 hours after the June 26th, 5:00 pm Nomination Deadline (June 27, 2020 at 5:00 pm) if needed.

  • Award winners will be notified in mid-August 2020.

  • Award winners will be announced in August or September 2020.

  • Award winners will be honored on September 16, 2020 during the virtual 2020 APA-IL State Conference.

Our process makes it easy to submit your project for an APA 2021 national award! Please consider submitting and gaining national recognition for your project.

 

Complete a 2020 Awards Nomination in 2 easy steps!

STEP 1: Collect Information

Before you begin to fill out the 2020 Nominations Form online, review the Awards Packet and gather the information and documents you will need.

  1. Review the 2020 Awards Information Packet.

  2. Check the nomination eligibility for yourself and your project.

  3. Are you submitting a nomination for a project or person?

    • Supporting documents for Project Nominations

      • Narrative (not more than 3 pages) on why this project deserves this award. Use the Award Criteria, listed in this document, for guidance on Project Awards.

      • If you did not provided a link to your project in the online submission form, please upload a copy of the project. No files larger than 20MB please.

      • Letter(s) of support for the nomination from the agency/entity that funded the work.

      • Logo(s) of agencies / companies to be recognized.​

    • Supporting documents for Service Nominations

      • Narrative (not more than 3 pages) on why this individual deserves this award.

      • Resume of nominee. (optional)

      • Letter(s) of support for the nomination. (optional)

      • Headshot or photograph of nominee.

  4. Project nominations will be prompted to pay a $50 nomination fee at the end of the nomination submission form, paid online through PayPal (no PayPal account required). If your organization cannot afford the $50 project nomination fee and wish to request assistance, please email awards@ilapa.org to inquire (note there is no fee for student or service awards). 

STEP 2: Online Nomination Form

The 2020 nomination period has closed.

Thank you for your interest in submitting a 2020 APA-IL Awards Nomination! All nominations must submit nominations via our online form. A confirmation email will be sent to you upon completion. If you are submitting a Project nomination, there is a $50 project nominations fee. Email awards@ilapa.org to inquire about waivers. Please note there is no fee for Student or Service Awards.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The nominator must be a member of the American Planning Association - Illinois Chapter (APA-IL) and the agency/entity that originally funded the work must support the nomination in writing. All entities that share responsibility for the completion of the plan/project and deserve recognition for the award must be listed on the nomination form. 

  • Nominations must be located within the State of Illinois.

  • Nominations may only be made in a single award category.

  • Nominations may be submitted for a Chapter Award a maximum of two times.

  • Nominations shall be for plans/projects that are recent, within the past five years. However, nominations submitted in the implementation category may be for be for current implementation results of plan that was originally completed more than five years ago.
