Networking Lunch

The 2017 APA-IL Conference Committee is delighted to provide this unique way of lunchtime dining again this year. We're mixing business with pleasure! 

 

Attendees will have 75 minutes, both Wed., September 13th and Thurs., September 14th, stroll through downtown Naperville, and do and dine as they please. Keep in mind, each person will be responsible for their own lunch tab.

 

We are offering 3 formats on both days:

  • FORMAL setting with topics, speakers, and CM credits offered

  • INFORMAL settings with topics, but no speaker-led discussions; seating on a first-come, first-served basis

Wednesday

Wednesday Dining Options, 9/13, 12:15-1:30 PM

We will be offering 3 formal and 2 informal sessions at restaurants within walking distance of the conference. Star denotes CM available. Each person will be responsible for their own lunch tab:

  • Hugo's Frog Bar: APA-IL Legislative Committee (CM | 1) - Hear about APA-IL Legislative Committee updates as led by David Silverman, AICP and other members of the APA-IL Legislative Committee (limited to 35 seats).​

  • Rosebud: I-90 SmartRoad (CM | 1) - Learn about the new I-90 SmartRoad project, which will incorporate active traffic management, integrate transit, and deliver a 21st century corridor for Illinois Tollway customers, as explained by Ed Parks (limited to 40 seats). â€‹

  • Nando's Peri Peri Chicken: Naperville Sustainability Plan (CM | 1) - Learn how to implement plans “outside-the-planning-box” through an overview of Naperville’s award winning 2010 Sustainability Plan as led by Amy Emery Graunke, AICP at Conference attendees receive a free 1/4 chicken with coupon! (limited to 20 seats)

  • Empire Burger Bar: Disaster Mitigation & Recovery - â€‹In light of the recent flooding in Lake County and Texas, discuss disaster mitigation planning and recovery. (35 seats reserved).​

Thursday

Thursday Dining Options, 9/14, 12:15-1:30 PM

We will be offering 2 formal and 2 informal sessions at restaurants within walking distance of the conference. Star denotes CM available.  Each person will be responsible for their own lunch tab:

  • Hugo's Frog Bar: Millennial Housing Needs - Learn about the projected and desired housing needs of the millennial generation as led by Judy Brodhead, Naperville City Councilwoman and adjunct North Central College professor (limited to 35 seats).​

  • Rosebud: APA-IL Diversity Committee - Learn about the APA-IL Diversity Committee initiatives as led by Diversity Committee Chair, Marcella Bondie Keenan and other members of the Diversity Committee (limited to 40 seats). â€‹

  • Quigley's Irish Pub: AICP Exam Prep Discussion - Discuss how you’re prepping for the upcoming AICP exam with fellow test takers. Conference attendees receive 15% off! Just show your badge! (40 seats reserved).

  • Empire Burger Bar: How to be a Smart City - Discuss what it means to be a Smart City, including current and changing technology needs and how it will affect your built environment (35 seats reserved).​
