4/29 - Cutting Through the Noise: Effective Communication Techniques for Planners

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Increasingly, communities are using a bundle of communication and outreach tools aimed at reaching residents: press releases, social media, surveys, event pop-ups…the list goes on. But despite pulling out all the tricks, public meetings can still be derailed by the “squeaky wheel” or those who claim they never heard about the meeting or project in the first place. This session will focus on approaches to authentic outreach and best practices in communication that help increase transparency, enhance project awareness, and build relationships within your community that lead to meaningful public input. Learn from panelists who approach the issue from a variety of perspectives, and come ready to ask questions!
