How will autonomous vehicles impact the future mobility and development of Chicago and the Region? This program, co-sponsored by APA-IL Chicago Metro Section and the AIA-Chicago Regional and Urban Design Community, features a panel of experts in transportation, design and planning to consider the possibilities. After a brief presentation from each speaker, there will be a panel discussion with Q&A.
Mark de la Vergne, Chief of Mobility Innovation, City of Detroit, Mayor's Office will be presenting innovative transportation initiatives from Detroit, and will serve as the moderator.
Jennifer Henaghan, Deputy Research Director Manager of the Green Communities Center at APA, will review trends related to autonomous vehicle planning from across the country.
Elizabeth Irvin, Associate Planner at CMAP, will review how CMAP is incorporating potential impacts of autonomous vehicles into ON TO 2050, the Chicago region’s next long range comprehensive plan.
Joe Iacobucci, Director of Transit, and New Mobility Practice Leader at Sam Schwartz, will be discussing the future of ride sharing and potential impacts for cities.
Ezra Kramer, Project manager at Walker Parking Consultants, will discuss how changing parking demand will create new development opportunities.
Nilay Mistry, Part Time Professor at IIT, will present ongoing research from IIT’s Driverless City Project.
